I truly hope that anyone reading this has enough brains in their head to see that this forum is not an authoritative academic source on this subject. Neither is wikipedia.com.

If you actually buy into the Bible's account, Noah had three sons: Ham, Shem and Japheth. Ham wandered into Africa and begot the "Negroid" race. Shem started his lineage in the middle-east and begot the "Semitic" peoples. And Japheth went into Europe. I dont put a whole lot of stock in this account, but it does give some background to these terms. Linguists, in fact, often group the languages in North-eastern Africa and the Semitic languages together, and refer to the whole lot as Hamito-Semitic (from Noahs two sons, Ham and Shem).

However, using the term Afro-asiatic does not mean all these people were black. Obviously, it doesnt mean these people were Asians either, as the term Asiatic would imply. That is not a logical conclusion, only a semantic presumption. In fact, if you look at ancient Egyptian art, the Egyptians make themselves a ruddy red color, distinct from the black they used to depict the Ethiopians. Why would the make themselves a different color from black people, unless the Egyptians weren't black? Yet, the Egyptians are Africans. (Hmmm. Africans who arent black.) Likewise, we see in ancient Egyptian art, numerous instances where Libyans, Semites, Nubians and Egyptians are all depicted, and the Semites and the Egyptians and the Libyans are all lighter skinned than the Nubians.

Therefore, Carthaginians, Egyptians, Phoenicians, and Israelites were NOT black.

There is one other thing Id like to point out. Just because you have kinky hair doesnt mean you have black blood. Ive met the blondest, blue-eyed children with Top-Ramen growing out their heads, and dont have a drop of black blood in them.

I presume you're being facetious. However, if not, go read the rest of the Hannibal forum. The issue of Hannibal's race seems to be an ongoing dispute.

Now Mr your going to far when you say Egyptians arent black your a real Idiot and anyone with your beliefs who read this message is also an idiot. First off the first sevn dynasties of egypt were black look at the Sphinx King Khafre the builder of the sphinx was African not just African but black on top of that no tan Nubian Black and so were his descendants the builders of the Pyramids. And I'm going to make you feel stupid your Biblical reference was good but you didnt finish Ham was the son of Noah but did you know that ham did not only birth the Africans but his descendants were Cush, Mizraim, Phut, and Canaan now doesn't that last name sound familiar yes the Canaanites descended from Ham and also the Phoenicians aren't these the ancestors of Hannibal ah ha. From Hams other sons Cush "black" (sons were Seba, Havilah, Sabta, Raamah and Sabtech they gave birth to the (Nubians, Ethiopians, Somalians, Sudanese, Dravidians, Sumerians, Babylonians, Djiboutians, Eriteans, Yemenis, and other related groups. From Mizraim "double lands" (sons were Lud, Anom, Pathros, Chasloth and Chaphtor) and from them sprouted (Egyptians, Khemets, Philistines, and Copts, other related groups. What im trying to say is Egyptians were black now maybe there mixing made them lighter than there Nubian Cousins but there all black. And before any of you Jackasses try to reply with some ridiculous foolishness go to http://en.wikipedia.org/w
iki/Ham,_son_of_Noah.
