Ok so he plots to destroy the world when his father dies. This is exactly what Maximus did when his owner died so even though the movies are different the plots sound oddly familiar anyone else think so?
Nobody gets everything.
I am Nobody.
Bless me father for I shall sin. One night I shall come for your life.

This has to be one of the stupidest posts I have ever seen. Did you even see Gladiator? Maximus did not try to 'take over the world.' And his 'owner' Proximo died while Maximus was already fighting. He vowed revenge on the emperor Commodus for killing Marcus Aurelius and his own (Maximus') family.
As for Hannibal, he was an actual person and this movie is based on actual historical events. Meaning real life. It was not written by Hollywood. It is not 'just another Gladiator' when it historically took place. Besides, any movie can be seen as 'just another such and such.' Every one has similar qualities with another. Jesus. You don't know much about history do you? The only comparable thing is that they are both about ancient Rome--albeit 400 years apart.
Thanks for the post above...I totally have to agree. Do you people even know who Hannibal was? Pick up a history book. I mean this guy accomplished what almost no one could. He came in and beat the **** out of the Romans who outnumbered them 10 to 1 but because he manuevered himself through Africa....up France and then went into Italy where they weren't expecting it. Doesn't sound like Gladiator to me!
