July 16, 2003 — Because of its strong box office performance, earning an estimated $78 million since its opening, Disney has expressed interest in a sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean. The studio has already made sequel arrangements with key stars Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley as well as producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski.
Original writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio are also being brought back, although no story has been set forth yet. |
