Well, that's the beuty of a sequel. That, actually, was exatly what i had sed....wouldn't it be as simple of ummm/../...taking off his boot? so, personally, i think that you're absolutelt correct...i guess we have tp wait.

he didnt really drown, but he was indeed killed by the pressure from sinking down into the ocean level. u see, as u go down further into water the pressure becomes harder and thats why u hear subs start to creek and thngs like that. the pressure from the ocean crushed his body but did not drown him. so technically he looked like a crumpled peice of tin foil.

According to the writers, this is exactly what happened! YAY JHBLADER!!!

The clue is when the two pirates are talking about Bootstrap to the crew from Tortuga and Will in the brig of the Black Pearl... the fact that they used the phrase "crushing black oblivion of Davy Jones' locker" was apparently supposed to be enough to tip people off. Obviously they were wrong! I thought that Bootstrap could still be alive until I watched the commentary with the writers!

I was confused about this too!!!!!!! My friend LAura and I were trying to figure out what had ahppened, we even watched the3 writters commentary, and we still didn't figure it out!!!!!!!!!! I still like my theroy better, and that he lived, so that he will appear in the sequal, but that dream is gone.

i kind of guessed that he was blown to pieces from when they said they strapped cannons to his bootstraps but they dont make it obvious. I don t care, lets face it every girl wants the sequil to be about Will and Elizabeths daughter!Then the lucky actress can meet Johnny depp!

he couldn't have taken his boot off because the weight was chained to him. once he got to the bottom he made a deal with davy jones and was then released from the ball and chain. i guess they assumed he was dead because they never say him again because he was made a member of davy jones' crew
