Ok, I'd still prefer them to go with an unknown, but if they wouldn't go with an unknown, here's my pick:
Jeremy Sumpter a.k.a. Peter Pan
Now, I realize the 2 big problems with this: 1.) he's blonde in that movie (although, I'm pretty sure that's not natural, so he could just as easily dye his hair black), and 2.) he's not Irish, but I wouldn't mind if Arty was played by a non-Irish kid doing an Irish accent (they'll be hard-pressed to find an actual Irish kid actor who would play Artemis well).
Now, here's why I think he'd be good: 1.) his face is actually A LOT like I pictured Artemis's face
2.) I've seen him with that mischievious(sp?) look in his eye. It looks kind of like this:
3.) Peter Pan is a very similar character to Artemis, if you've ever read the real Peter Pan book (he's mischievious and cocky), and Jeremy seems to play that very well.
4.) he's charismatic, so I know he could be a VERY loveable little criminal.
5.) I think he has a very believable air of intelligence around him, which I think is evident in this pic:
Hey, at least he's got the blue eyes! Oh look! His hair looks kinda dark in this one:
As I said before, I'd prefer an unknown, but if we can't have that, this is my #1 candidate. "I am bottled fizzy water, and you are shaking me up." -Incubus

Yeah, I think if they do use the LotR method (the camera tricks), they should cast somebody with a petite build, so they would make a believeable small person. That would be my one problem with Jennifer Garner. She just looks tall, even if someone standing next to her is much taller than her. She just has that tall kind of build. For an example of someone who just looks even more petite than they are, see Kristin Kreuk, a.k.a. Lana Lang on Smallville. Granted, she doesn't have the same physical features as Holly, but she does have the petite build, so when they use the effects to make her appear smaller than Artemis, it's more believeable. I'm not saying she should play Holly. That was just an example. "I am bottled fizzy water, and you are shaking me up." -Incubus

Well, not necessarily. In LotR, those camera tricks I was referring to weren't just old-fashioned camera positioning and lens tricks. I'm talking about the composite shot method that they used quite a bit on those films (they also used some old-fashioned trickery as well, though). What I mean by composite shot is that they would shoot the scene with Artemis and then shoot it seperately with Holly. They would be using a blue-screen, and digitally composite the shots into one, and make Holly smaller. It worked really well for LotR, so I think it could work well with this movie, too. Of course, they could still do some of the old fashioned tricks, like when they do a semi-or full close-up of Holly when she's standing next to Artemis, and you can't see his face they could have someone much bigger standing in for Artemis. There's a million things they can do to make someone appear smaller. I would just want someone with a petite build so that it doesn't look all wierd when they are small, they shouldn't have a big, tall, or lanky build if they want them to be believeably small. I mean, Orli Bloom is just too much of a, well, heart-throb, and too manly to play an annoying, bantering, 'donkey-boy'
and sean biggerstaff, well, he seems too innocent.... ~*Elven Maiden and Valiant Warrior of Pelennor Feilds*~

I would never call Orli "too manly " for...anything. He's always been a pretty sort of cute. But I do agree that those guys are not Foaly material. "I am bottled fizzy water, and you are shaking me up." -Incubus
