It was announced yesterday that the new live action film Green Lantern had set up production offices and was on track to start shooting in September for the previously announced December 17, 2010 release date.

IESB has gotten word out of the Warner Brother's halls that there is a short list of possibles for the casting of the green superhero Hal Jordan. Top of the list is Chris Pine who is currently set to star as Captain Kirk this summer in J.J. Abrams' new Star Trek film.

In the new Green Lantern film, Hal Jordan is a pilot who finds a powerful ring and its lantern-like battery when a spaceship crashes on Earth. Jordan is selected to succeed the craft's dying occupant as the next Green Lantern, a galactic guardian who is a member of an interstellar corps.

Could one man be both Captain Kirk and Hal Jordan? I suppose, after all Bruce Wayne is also John Conner.

Word is WB is looking for a man's man under 30. Names like Jon Hamm and Nathan Fillion have popped up but again they are looking for under 30. I think Hamm would be a fantastic choice but by the time a sequel rolls around he'd be pushing 40 (which I think would only make him sexier and more distinguished). Sam Worthington's name has also been floating around but Chris Pine seems to be the top choice.

IESB has contacted Pine's talent agent Steven Jang who has referred us to his publicist Melissa Kates at PMK who's assistant gave us a "no comment" because Kates is currently on vacation.

It's a rumor for now albeit from a very reliable source inside WB, we'll keep an ear out for developments!

Going with someone under 30 is retarded.

I've been here since 2000 and have undergone six-seven personas, but I am still me...Tiffany, I love you.

Earlier this week there were some whispers that the offer might be out to STAR TREK's Chris Pine to play Hal Jordan aka. The Green Lantern. Apparently, not so much. Collider are running the story that no such offer has been tabled. Previously, Ryan Gosling and Anton Yelchin have been touted as possible Lanterns. The movie will follow a young pilot who finds a green ring on a spaceship that has crashed on earth. The ring is often referred in the comics as the most powerful weapon in the universe.

Who do you guys think should play Jordan? I kinda liked Chris Pine...

Chris Pine may be showing up in theaters as the new James T. Kirk for Star Trek this year, but contrary to percolating rumors he has not yet been offered a green ring to play Hal Jordan. It turns out that discussions have taken place, but no one has sealed any deals yet for Pine to appear in the new Green Lantern film from Warner Bros.

No, I had a meeting with [casting director] Pam Dixon and [executive producer] Donald De Line, but a meeting was all it was, Pine told MTV News. I have not been offered squat. I do not have the part and havent read a script.

A rumor broke in March that Pine might be under consideration for the Green Lantern role on a short list that included geek-friendly stars Jon Hamm, Nathan Fillion and Sam Worthington.

Pine didnt eliminate the possibility that he still might be offered the Hal Jordan role, but if he accepts the part, it wont be for his love of comics.

Im not a big comic book fan, he explained. Furthermore, the lack of a script in hand may be a barrier to Pine knowing if he even wants the part.

Im a fan of stories, Pine said. So if theres a story to be told, I love to tell a good story. But theres not a particular superhero or comic book character that Id like to play.
