Well oscar season is in fulll gear and things are really heating up. However Kong is not the main attraction. In fact Kong has recieve no awards, hardly any nominations or recognition for that matter. It is as though Kong never existed. The movie that a month ago I never even new existed is the one stealing the show. That movie is Brokeback Mountain. Most likely the most controversial movie since F9/11. It is of course Kongs luck that it had to come out the same time Ang Lees gay cowboy movie came out. Which brings me to the question what is this movie going to get nominated for?

Well here is my for sure list,

Visuals
sound
cinematography

Possible

Editing
Adapted screenplay
Actress Naiomi Watts
Score
Director
costume
Makeup

Basically out of the question

Picture (Brokeback Mountains surprise success is basically making it impossible for this movie to get nominated. My list is Munich, BM, Good Luck and Goodnight, Capote, and Syrianna)
Actor. I believe Serkis deserves something but with Brokeback Mountain again stealing all the success most movies that are probably better are being left in the dust.

So basically I think Kong is going to get all technical awards. Had Brokeback Mountain not come out it may be different. However it has swept this season by storm.

And it did indeed take three technical awards. The Effects award is really a good one, since it validates how effective the team that created Kong was. Once again, a great combination of CGI and live actor work by Andy Serkis.
