Horrible? Abomination? Hey, its a free country, but come on! Any particular reason it was a horrible abomination?
Yeah, I suppose you are right. After all, in this modern age of moviemaking where so many films are centered on smut, senseless bloody violence, vulgarity and explosions (I'm not Tipper Gore, I swear), it is just horrible that some guy who's life was changed when he saw the original King Kong as a 9 year old boy waited for years and years to poor his heart, his soul and some of his pocketbook into an epic film which was visually stunning, perfectly casted and had a great interpretation of the classic "Beauty and the Beast" plot and storyline. What an abomination that the man who made the film literally created a main character who's capture, fate and death were so tragic that you would have to be DEAD not to have any visceral reaction whatsoever. Were you getting popcorn when Kong put his hand out to Ann Darrow when the chloroform finally put him to sleep? Were you in the bathroom when the last pass of the biplanes riddled Kong's back and he died atop the Empire state Building?
Just about everyone in the theater I was in were in tears for most of the last hour and most of them have probably donated money to any organization in the world that is involved in primate or gorilla conservation in the last 48 hours.
But, I guess some people just miss the point. Oh well.

Quite obviously the simple-minded one is the person posting this topic. King Kong is probably the greatest visual cinematic experience I've seen EVER. Being the owner of over 1000 DVD's, and having seen well past 3 times that many movies in my lifetime, as well as being educated, I believe I'm much more qualified to evaluate whether any given movie is worthwhile, than this little turd.
Synopsis: Get a clue, this movie may have been a 3 hour remake, and it may have received an unusually appreciative reception by critics, but the reality is none of that matters in the face of the fact that you'd be hard-pressed to find a movie that tells a story as well.
And as I said, I don't even care if you already know the story. Pretty much everyone in the WORLD knows the story of the Titanic, but people still went to that movie in droves... you want to talk about a waste of 3 hours?
Not only that, but your 'criticism' of others responses to your idiotic, baseless rant have been childish at best. Are you 13 years old? You certainly act like it.

Did you even READ his post to me?
It's funny...it's not cool for me to call him a Nazi, yet because I disagree with him and am not allowed my opinion (according to his statement) I'm still the bad guy.

Well excuse me Mr. Spielberg, considering your huge list of credentials (You're right, owning a lot of movies means you KNOW a good one), I would like to ask you this. What WAS the story that was so masterfully told in the movie? If this is the penultimate way of storytelling, then what was this story? About a monkey and a girl loving each other? If so, then this movie should have been about 20 minutes long. Because that's all we see of the two together. A bunch of shots of sad faces is not masterful storytelling. It's plainly an emotional arc. It makes you feel bad for someone, but that's all. The rest of the movie was just filler that was completely unneccessary. Titanic did so well because they actually FOCUSED on that love story. Titanic had a 1% decrease in sales the next four weeks after opening because it was so focused. This is the garbage that is unfocused and all over the place. Don't come in here and start slandering others because you think watching a bunch of movies makes you educated on a matter. Our opinion matters as much as yours, and all this guy was asking was if anyone here on CD thought the movie was bad. You are the rude one coming in here and starting trouble. knock it off. Harry Potter Addicted, not a stoner.
I just couldn't do it, that pic was making me sick to my stomach. And to all those who kept calling me a racist, never again should you direct a comment in my direction again. You can all go to Hell for all I care.

I think its great that we have a treat about "the weak points of King kong",,,,,,,, its good to have different opinions but you gotta give them first,,,, I'm interested to know what you didn't like about it !
I liked it allot but I found this guy who didn't like it,,, it was because it had some scenes that were not realistic,,,
These are a few points he told me,,,,
The vines she's tied with are strong enough to support her weight but when he RIPS her free it doesn't hurt her. He runs with her in his hand shaking her to pieces yet again not hurt. Stampede of dinosaurs (jurassic park) and no one has a scratch or bruise. Ever hold a grasshopper? This 2 inch bug can scratch the crap out of you yet none of the survivors had a scratch on them from the giant bugs. Not to mention that the ship wasn't even big enough to fit him into the cargo hold.... and how did they load him..... there was more than that.
I still thought it was a great movie,,,, but these points are pretty good,,,, Hair Ball |
