| How excited (or not) I am to see this movie... |

| So long I waited for this movie, and so long I waited for it to be over once I sat in the theater. I am very disappointed in the results. I was so angry by the end of Van Helsing, never predicting it would have been this bad. The Mummy and The Mummy Returns were great and when I heard Sommers was going to redo Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Wolfman into one huge monster mash, I was ecstatic. But that was just what it was, described in a review I read after I watched it: a monster "mash." Having all three monsters in one film was a big mistake. The plot was too rushed for me to have any sympathy for any of the characters! I hardly knew anything about any of them! Three separate movies may have worked with more depth in the storylines and the characters. This movie was just Universal's attempt to thrill us with their versions of the great Hollywood monsters mixed with terrible acting (don't even get me started with those accents...) and show off their special effects at the same time. A multimillion dollar mess, I think. Hopefully they will ignore the box office income and abstain from making a sequel so they won't ruin any more Hollywood legends... |
