| I had the good fortune to see this movie at a pre-screening function......and I am glad I took the opportunity to have this night out to preview this movie. Score! The story line is just a bit slow in the beginning, but it is laid out and portrayed so well that you keep following the movie from beginning to end. There is no getting up for popcorn or potty stops..........you are constantly watching the dynamics going on the screen, and trying to anticipate what will come next, but you cannot. The acting from the primary players is great (remember, Lester is what he is and is supposed to be that way). Kingsley is so outstanding; as is the protrayal by the upcoming Jennifer Connelley (sp). The packed house was a nice mix of all ethnic backgrounds, and split nearly equally between men and woman; the best of crowds. I took only one look up from the screen during the movie, but saw NO one leaving or moving from their seats...........we were literally a captive audience waiting to see what came next. And when the tears flowed, they came from all sides, both men and women. Thanks Oprah for making this a Book of the Month selection..........I think it propelled this into the movie it has become. A word for the wise.........that is what it takes. This movie will make you take a second look at what values are important to you now, and what should REALLY be important. This will surely be an Academy Award contender. |
