It didn't get a 'bad' reception from cinemagoers, but most did say they hoped "The Day After Tomorrow" didn't spawn a sequel. The execs at FOX seemingly had cucumber on their eyes the day that talkback erupted though, because they're pushing forward with the unnecessary sequel anyway.

"The Day After Tomorrow" was one of FOX's big hits for the year - one of only a couple of hits actually - and the DVD returns have been more pleasing than watching a buff Elisha Cuthbert clean out my car glovebox apparently. And what results from a big non-sequel opening weekend? sequel.

Talking to an insider at the studio this morning, Moviehole got word that it's something that's definitely under serious consideration. "Oh hell yeah", was the response we got when asked the inevitable '2' question.

Recent reports suggested that the sequel's hero would be the vice president, played by former "Twin Peaks" star Kenneth Welsh. "That's one idea...", we're told.

Be interesting to see if this one pans out (After all, FOX were all go on a "ID4" sequel for a few years there too - and look where that is: still sitting atop of the printer at the Emmerich household), or whether Roland Emmerich will be involved. And Roland's schedule is pretty much solid for the next couple of years : He's got "King Tut" to do, "One Nation" and also, "The Girls Next Door".

maybe not, just depends how where and when... not roland tho so prob no movie but expect more movies like TDAT esp with michael crichtons new book sporting echo-terrorists.
