| Spirited Away |
| Highest rated TV movie in Japanese history |
SUBMITTED BY uruseiranma January 27, 2003 — After having been released in Japan in 2001, and after it's subsequent release on DVD and VHS this past July, Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away debuted on January 24th on television, and captured the highest rating of a broadcast film. 'Spirited Away' beat out the highest broadcast rating that was set in 1979 for the documentary 'A Story of Red Foxes' (or as they call it 'Kitakitsune Monogatari'). 'Spirited Away' edged out oer 'A Story of Red Foxes' by a margin of 1.5%. |
