January 14, 2003 — Aint-it-Cool-News has gotten one of the hottest scoops that thety are dubbing "THE GREATEST DVD NEWS OF THE YEAR... so far."
AICN reporter Moriarty found a scoop posted by Stephen Bissette (who worked with writer Alan Moore on the comic 'Swamp Thing'). Apparently, Mr. Bissette is also a great fan of Hayao Miyazaki's work, and it seems that his constant nagging has finally paid off as well!
Mr. Bissette received a fax a few days ago from a Disney representative, who states that in April, Disney will be releasing the first Region 1 DVD's of 'Spirited Away,' 'Castle in The Sky,' and 'Kiki's Delivery Service.' They will all be sold under the label of 'The Hayao Miyazaki Collection.'
What is also noteworthy is that it seems these discs will be getting the added treatment of being 2-Disc Special Edition sets for each film. In Japan, this is the case where the second disc in their 2-disc sets have contained the ENTIRE film in storyboard format, which were all hand-drawn by Miyazaki himself. Let's hope that this and more features will be included.
