Inuyasha1614 said: This movie is going to win for best animation in the acadamy awards. If it doesn't then we know that the acadamy is self richas to things only american. I'm not worried about it though, when you look at the compatition, there's no way it can loose.
I'd still place my money on Spirited Away more than any other picture. I've seen all the films from Fox(Ice Age) Dreamworks(Spirit) and Disney (Lilo & Stitch & Treasure Planet). And they all fail to compare with Spirited Away. Spirited Away just feels like such a breath of fresh air. There's no pop songs halfway through, it's over 2 hours long, and Miyazaki doesn't underestimate the intelligence of his audience. My one nightmare is that the Academy will do like they did with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and roll over Spirited Away for being a
foreign' film, or the fact that the academy voters didn't see it
This should also be a eye opener for Disney, a good smack on the ass to convince Disney to start being more original, and stop developing all there movies witht the same elements, and character developments, that they've been using since Snow White.
Well InuYasha, there have been three major princesses that have reignited Disney in 3 different eras of time. It is true, that each princess was hoping to snare a prince who had very little screentime, with an evil villainness trying to kill her, and animals were the princeses sidekicks. The order is as follows: Snow White (1937)The first Disney feature, that jumpstarted the Disney studios and proved that Disney wasn't a crazed nut (he had already shown that color and sound and depth in animation were possible). But then, hard tiems hit, and princess #2 to save Walt's Kingdom was Cinderella. Her film saved the animation division at the time. But then, trouble happened and paradise once again slipped into the darkages, and drifted under the sea, where Ariel became the 3rd and most recent princess to resurrest the Disney empire. After Ariel's success, the films just kept coming and coming. So, given Disney's track record, we can guess that another Princess is due to save the kingdom. |
