September 18, 2003 — Variety reports that Screen Gems has officially made a deal to produce a sequel to Underworld, following a positive reception to the vampires vs. werewolves film at the Toronto Film Festival. It can be assumed that director Len Wiseman, writer Danny McBride and the surviving cast from the original (which ends with an explicit opening for a follow-up) will return.
