One more piece of news from this afternoons interviews for Universal Pictures' The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. When we saw the film this past weekend there was one thing of note, Luke Ford was the centerpiece of the film, while Brendan Fraser appeared to be more of a footnote. When asked about future films, Luke Ford told SpookyDan that he has signed on for a total of three films, leading us to believe he is being primed as the new leading O'Connell in the MUMMY franchise. I guess we'll be reporting more if the film is a box office success August 1st weekend.

I reserve judgement until I see Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, but my tentative reply is no. However, the mere notion of three more films makes me wonder what other mummy legends they could possibly dig up.

This actually seems like a whole new trilogy.

Like Star Wars IV-VI and Star Wars I-III.

The first two films are a franchise. Then the next three will be another trilogy.

These one look extremely different from the first ones. Which could be better or worse.

i totally agree with you and StoneRoller. If this movie is any good, which the odds for me right now is 60/40 with the 60 being no. Brendan Fraser will find some way into the next 3 movies as well, afterall this is all he does nowadays except for really weird indies and Journey to the Center of the Earth.

Personally, I consider THIS film to be the first of a new trilogy.

Anybody gone to Universal Studios recently and ridden the Mummy ride? It's really neat, and fills in quite nicely for a third movie using Imhotep.

Anybody here been there and agree with me?

Yeah, I've been there, but I didn't quite get the story for the ride since I had a front-of-the-line pass.

After seeing that film I say, "Go for it."

I really liked that film. I wonder if they'll do an Aztec Mummy, that would be absolutely wicked. Woo Hoo - Bring it on...
If Luke Ford did 3 more, I hope they'll bring in his love interest from: 'The Mummy: Tomb of the Emperor'
that would be so COOOL!!!!

Rule Britannia yeah! lol

Yeah the ride was definitely a trip. I hate rollercoasters but my wife loves them so I figured what the hell. Man I got stuck in the first freaking car in the first freaking seat. Needless to say it reminded me why I hate rollercoasters.LOL

Oh dear.

No Brendan Fraser as a main focus = no thanks.

This film was such a let down. It was, at best, a last resort film to watch on a night where you struggle to think of something to do with your night.

The dialogue was terrible.

The new Eve was terrible.

Alex... in general, was NOWHERE near as likeable as Fraser.

The ending was quick.

Yetis had FAR to big a roll (any at all was already ridiculous and unnecissary, even for a Mummy film).

Johnathan was completely unnecissary aswell.

I loved the first two, and personally don't count this as a Mummy film, much like I don't count Forever or & Robin as Batman films.

The Ice-Cold Drummer X-Stud.

Only a catholic could walk into a room of naked clowns killing each other and immediately look at the plate of biscuits sitting on the table - Dylan Moran

We are all LOST.

The third film really dissapointed me so I don't think there should be more films. They have ruined the whole seriess with this third film. Unless there is a good story there shouldn't be 3 more films.
