Australian actor Luke Ford (The Black Balloon) talked to Australias Herald Sun today about the possibility of seeing his character, Alex OConnell, from the upcoming The Mummy : Tomb of the Dragon Emperor spin-off into his own film.

There was talk at one point they might do a spin off series with Alex OConnell depending on the success of this film, said Ford, adding that theyre picking me up to be in the franchise, not necessarily taking over it. Id definitely like to be part of that series if they ask me again.

The young actor, who plays Charlie in the acclaimed new Aussie drama The Black Balloon, says he really enjoyed working with those actors and the series relies a lot on Brendan (Fraser), its his series.

Ford describes his character : During the way my parents sent me to Australia and Ive gone on to do my own thing and be my own independent man. My character is basically trying to get my parents to see that Im a grown man and can look after myself and you guys can include me as part of your team rather than protect me.

As for his accent in the movie ..we have an American accent with Australian nuances. I wanted to show off my masculinity and the Aussie accent is very masculine. Its probably more because I couldnt pull the [American] accent off.
