WCMA art exhibit in relation with upcoming 'Max'

SUBMITTED BY Movieman129

November 6, 2002

Yahoo Movies' Greg's Previews made an interesting observation in connection with the upcoming drama Max starring John Cusac, set to open Christmas weekend.

It will end its run on October 27th, exactly two months before this movie is released, but I couldn't help but notice that the Williams College Museum of Art (in Williamstown, MA) is currently featuring a highly unusual exhibit called "Prelude to a Nightmare: Art, Politics, and Hitler's Early Years in Vienna 1906-1913." The WCMA does do traveling exhibitions to other museums, so it's possible (I'm just guessing here) that this exhibit, which focuses on Hitler's artwork, may eventually show at a museum near you. And, of course, the reason I mention all this is that the very subject of this exhibit is what this film is about as well (though the exhibit is pre-WWI, and the film is set after WWI): Hitler's short career as a would-be artist before he decided that he wanted to take over the world, and oh yeah, kill millions of innocent people, instead.
