July 19, 2002 — According to The Hollywood Reporter, Christopher Walken has signed to star opposite The Rock and Seann William Scott (Dude, Where's My Car?, American Pie) in Universal's action-adventure pic Helldorado (the film's tentative title).

The flick will be helmed by actor-turned-director Peter Berg (Very Bad Things), and was scripted by R.J. Stewart (Amazon High, TV's Xena) with a subsequent rewrite by James Vanderbilt (John McTiernan's forthcoming Basic).

The project is described as "a modern tale about a bounty hunter (The Rock) who travels to a town named Helldorado in the Amazon jungle to settle a debt. But when he realizes his target (Scott) isn't the bad guy he thought he was, the two join forces to search for hidden riches in the area."

Christopher Walken will be playing the bad guy, the town's "evil kingpin" named Bloomocks.

Shooting will begin on Sept. 20.
