Brian Cox on his Troy Boy Movie Rival

SUBMITTED BY Stephanie

April 30, 2004 — Brian Cox, (Agamemnon), talks to 'The Mirror' about his role in the upcoming blockbuster, Troy. He discuss her personal life and past films.

HE has the sort of face that looks good on radio, but that hasn't stopped Brian Cox landing some of Hollywood's choicest roles.

In the past 10 years, the Dundee-born actor has made 37 films and he as in demand as ever.

His brooding portrayal of Hannibal Lecter, in the 1986 film Manhunter, was rated by many as even more chilling than Anthony Hopkins's Lecter in The Silence Of The Lambs.

His recent films include The Bourne Identity, The Ring, Adaptation and X-Men 2. And now he's lending an air of authority to the star-packed historical epic Troy, as Greek king Agamemnon.

"I'm a character actor - a worker bee," says Brian, 57, with typical modesty. "But hopefully I'm beginning to prove my worth."

Troy's stellar cast includes heartthrobs Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom and Sean Bean.

Although Brian's not the type to get ruffled by the pretty-boy competition, that's not the case in the movie. He and Brad, who plays Achilles, are sworn enemies.

They fight over a woman - no prizes for guessing who wins.

"Brad's very self-effacing," says Brian. "He's not someone you'd even notice until he walks on set in his black leather outfit. And then everybody - even me - goes, 'Jesus Christ!'

"I might have had a two per cent sympathy vote, but once the audience sees Brad in his black leather, nobody's going to be on my side. Forget it. I haven't got a look in."

He may have a craggy face, but he oozes charisma. And in real life, Brian has never had any trouble attracting beautiful women.

Not that the confirmed family man has ever been interested in playing the field.
