Billy Boyd Chats About M&C, LOTR and More

SUBMITTED BY flikchik

November 11, 2003

Lord of the Rings star Billy Boyd plays Coxwain Barrett Bonden in new Russell Crowe epic, Master and Commander. Which is released at the end of this month. He joins us today to give us the inside story...

Master and Commander - The Basic Plot Set during the Napoleonic wars, Russell Crowe plays Captain 'Lucky' Jack Aubrey of The HMS Surprise, renowned as a fighting captain in the British Navy and Paul Bettany plays the ship's doctor Stephen Maturin. Billy Boyd plays the coxswain of the ship, the man who is responsible for the steering, and the highest ranking non officer on board. The Surprise comes under an attack from a superior enemy. With the ship damaged and much of the crew injured, Aubrey pursues his enemy across the high seas. It's a mission that could make his reputation or destroy him and his crew.

This makes for a very exciting and gripping film set almost all at sea. (Apart from a few scenes on the Galapogas Islands.) It's full of battles and packed with action.

Master and Commander is on general release from November 28th.

Billy on his Character: "Bondon's a great sailor that can do anyone's job on the ship and who knows the world he's in, which is a nice change to Pippin who is lost in the world most of the time."
