September 12, 2004 — Resident Evil: Apocalypse, the sci-fi sequel starring Milla Jovovich, was the #1 movie for the weekend, earning an estimated $23.7 million and putting to rest the two-week box office reign of Hero. Hero was #4 this weekend with $4.4 million.

Cellular, starring Kim Basinger, opened at #2 with $10.6 million. Without a Paddle slipped one spot to #3 with $4.6 million.
