June 19, 2003 — The SARS-induced hype and hysteria continues in Toronto, putting another big production about to shoot there at risk.
According to ScreenDaily.com, "producer Don Carmody, who is scheduled to begin production of Resident Evil: Apocalypse on Aug. 11, told Screen International that if the city can't 'get a lid on' its SARS situation, 'they can kiss production goodbye, including my own.'"
Apparently, because movie stars are easily frightened, even in the face of massive evidence to the contrary, their hesitancy about coming to Toronto is jeopardizing that city's place as Hollywood North. Resident Evil may just move as a result. Is it Milla who is being unreasonable? I thought she was a toughie, judging from all the screaming she did in "The Messenger".
Anyway, I'm surprised they are even thinking of moving, seeing as the movie is about disease, mutant virii and all manner of scientific experiments. The more bio-tormented the city, the better -- no?
