Earlier today, rumors were coming out of horror site Bloody-Disgusting that 20th Century Fox was interested in relaunching the "Alien" franchise with some sort of reboot or remake, following the recent news that Robert Rodriguez would be doing the same thing for 20th Century Fox's other sci-fi creature franchise, Predator. While there was no confirmation from the Fox camp or the trades, Collider's roving reporter "Frosty" cornered director Tony Scott at the press conference for his own remake of The Taking of Pelham 123 to get confirmation and learned that Scott-Free Productions is indeed producing a remake with director Carl Rinsch helming. They hope that the movie, which is meant act as a prequel to Ridley Scott's original 1979 classic Alien, will be shooting by the end of the year. The original Bloody-Disgusting story suggested that they would return to the original concept of just one alien creature, and that they'd be looking for a new "Ripley."

Just keep Ripley out of the prequel. Why recast her if her character isn't really needed. Stupid FOX, i swear a room full of Monkeys could do a better job.

If the first time Ripley encountered the Alien was in the first movie, then she obviously shouldn't be in the prequel. Unless this is their idea of rebooting the series and ignoring the previous installments, which would be a HUGE mistake.

If they do a prequel then it should focus on the alien ship that was on LV 427 in the first movie. Explain how that got there and what the large creature with the hole in its chest was. Now that would be someting worth seeing. Also how there were so many eggs in the ship but no queen or "adult" aliens.

Who is this director?? What is these series fantasy with these strong, one woman killing machines? Y not just make an epic colonist battle for survival as a prequel to part 2?

Ridley Scott has said that that ship was meant to be a 'bomber' and that the creature with the hole in its chest was part of a race that had been using the Aliens as biological weapons. That in itself sounds compelling enough for a film . . . or for Fox to **** up.

The only way the prequel can work is if the show the LV426 monster crash at the start of the movie and a group of humans (NO RIPLEY) found it before the group from Alien did and there were no survivors, thus no previous note of that planet/creatures before Alien.
