Poor Sigourney Weaver.

The actress, a presenter tonight, was inundated with questions backstage at the Golden Globes - but they weren't about any of her new films. Nope, they were all about the oft-rumoured "Alien 5".

And it sounds like Weaver's just about had her fill. One almost expected her to slowly open her jaw as wide as she could, let rip a punnet of drool, and take a chunk out of each reporter's face.

"I think enough already," Weaver told reporters when asked what the chances were of a Weaver/James Cameron reunion sequel.

The actress, says ReelzChannel.com, even went as far as to say she much preferred the character she plays in Cameron's upcoming "Avatar" than that of gun-toting Ellen Ripley.

"I have to say I play a very dynamic character in Avatar, so it was fun to go back into space. I think its more satisfying to create something new."

So is that that, or is Tom Rothman a cheque or two away from snagging Weaver for a fifth "Alien"?

I think Weaver needs to be told something similar to what James Doohan was told concerning his Scotty character.

Doohan had been getting tired of people treating him like he was always supposed to be playing Scotty in real life, until a fan told him that he really should get used to people treating him like the character. After all, Scotty was his claim to fame. After that, he pretty much just rolled with it.

Ellen Ripley WAS Sigourney Weaver's boost to stardom, and although she's had other (and successful) roles, I think she needs to stop rolling her eyes when people keep asking about possible Alien sequels. She IS Ellen Ripley, just as Robert Englund IS Freddy Kreuger and Peter Cullen IS Optimus Prime. No one else could play them as well, and no one should try.

Weaver needs to go out swinging on this one.

I think they could so pull off another Alien and Predator movie and finish it off with another shitty avp3. However, I'd love to see a prequel to be in between Alien 1 and 2, and a Stalone vs Pred for Pred 3.

If you're gonna have an old guy fight the Pred, why not have it be Arnie again?

First of all Stalone, the "old guy" could kick all our asses, second, I'd be fine with a return battle for Arnie.

I wouldn't have ANY problem with an AVP3.

As far as I'm concerned, the ONLY thing wrong with AVP2 was AVP1.

They'd probably have an easier time booking Stallone now that Ah-nold has become the Governator.

I don't think this is the case with Weaver. Yes, she is famous for characters like Ripley but unlike Doohan, everyone sees her as Weaver, not Ripley. She's a much more respected actress than that. Her career never had to revolve around one character unlike Doohan who is basically only known as Scotty and nothing else. Weaver had plenty of other respectable work outside of Alien to make a name for herself.

Personally, I'm glad she's expressed interest in her future career than pandering to fans who want her to go back to Alien. What left is there to do? Retread? The Alien franchise is out of ideas. The creature is no longer scary, it has lost its novelty. The last time she was around she did it only because she was offered a huge paycheck by FOX. A decade later, I can understand her disinterest in the series: She's moved on.

Plus FOX is running the whole thing, can you really trust them to hire anyone close to Ridley Scott's talent instead of a puppet yes-man director?
