This is simular to my alien 5 plot that I posted a while ago, mine went.
I read a magazine with Ridley Scott explaining the spacejockies appearance.
Basically he said he it would be great to know the why's and where for's of explaining more about the first movie.The spaceship containing eggs would actually be biological weapons that would take to some godforsaken planet and return after a year and clean up the mess,that's what the spaceship with the spacejockey was doing.
So my plot would be the spacejockies have been at war with the predators and they devise a plan to finally conquer them by dropping down the alien eggs.While this is going on Marines have finally discovered the alien planet and wish to explore and know more about the creatures god knows why.They do not realize there in the middle of a war which has been fighting for decades.So my idea would be to see new alien creatures and discovers mysteries of the alien origin.
