Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King “Tolkien's Masterpiece!” — howard stern [More reviews by this user] Anticipation Level: How excited (or not) I am to see this movie... "The Return of the King" by J.R.R. Tolkien is by far, his masterpice. His plot, which is woven skillfully between three books, climaxes in the final book. There is no doubt that the filmakers deliberatly left out Shelob's Lair in order to make the third movie outstandingly the best. I think Peter Jackson wants to end his brilliant trilogy with a triumphant "BANG" and I think he will do it in the third and final installment of the "Lord of the Rings", "The Return of the King."
