March 15, 2005 — Plans are moving ahead for adapting The Lord of the Rings as a musical; now slated to open March 2006 in Toronto and to move on to London six months later. Producers have promised to go back to the original books by J.R.R. Tolkien and not try to reproduce Peter Jackson's movie trilogy, which earned $3 billion worldwide and garnered many Oscars and international fame.
