December 3, 2004 — The reports of Saruman's death in the soon-to-be-released Extended Edition of The Return of the King, may not have been exaggerated, after all. For years, debate has raged among Tolkienites on whether a grainy photograph of a wizard impaled on a spiked wheel was genuine, or a joke by Peter Jackson. In a report by the Australian Dominion Post says that the picture is indeed an accurate depiction of the end of the wizard Saruman (Christopher Lee). Read more in the Dominion Post report below:
