OK, you're in Rivendell, and the entire Fellowship, Gandalf, Aragorn, etc. just came down with a severe case of, well, a crippling disease.

Now you have to pick characters to make up a new Fellowship, up to nine of them, of course.

Who do you send?

hmm, interesting. They're pretty screwed really if the Fellowship were cut down before even leaving Rivendell. They all arrived there at the same time by chance.

So can we choose anyone from anywhere in Middle-Earth?

First up would be Glorfindel for sure. Already at Rivendell and a powerfull Elf Lord. Scouts can go find Elladan and Elrohir (weren't they in Lorien during the Council?) and also Radagast. Radagast isn't much of a substitute for Gandalf, but I like the idea of him fulfilling his mission. Faramir can represent Men, which he should have done anyway, and maybe Beregond too (Though if I could have any Man, i'd time travel and get Turin Turumbar ). Maybe stick a Beorning in there too just for fun Grimbeorn was their Lord at that time.

That's all i got. We can only hope Frodo (and Sam for that matter) is immune to whatever affects them, cos without a Hobbit, the Ring wouldn't have gotten very far.

Good picks, so you would line it up with:

Radagast
Glorfindel
Elladan
Elrohir
Faramir
Grimbeorn

Then we need at least a dwarf, (Gloin?) and a hobbit. Bilbo being too old at that point, the only other hobbit that knnows about the Ring is Fatty Bolger!

Maybe Arwen would be a consideration.

I thought of Arwen, but with 3 Elves already it might look a bit suspicious. Albeit a giant Man-bear doesn't fit the bill for covert operations, but what the hey

Fatty Bolger seems the best choice for the Hobbits. He's got some Took in him which is good. I would have thought if the worst came to worst, Faramir could endure being the Ring-Bearer for some of the way. There's also Bob and Nob from the Prancing Pony. They would've been aquainted with Gandalf and seemed pretty trust-worthy.

I have no idea for the Dwarves. Wouldn't Gloin be pretty old aswell? Some Dwarf from under the mountain would do though.

Okay, we're sitting in my class right now, and I randomly asked my friends who they would put on their fellowship, so this is what they came up with...

Haldir, Arwen, Eowyn, Eomer, Faramir, Elrond, Galadriel, Treebeard, and the balrog. And in case any of the members die, we'll replace them with Ents and Oliphants.

Oh, and they just wanted to add Aslan, Cloud, Yoda, and Harry Potter in case the Ents and Oliphants die too.

Lmao, that's the craziest thing i've heard all day

But you've got a point, Yoda would make an excellent Ringbearer (though everybody would be majorly screwed if he he did get enslaved by Sauron!)

I'd split my forces and use a bit of misdirection. I'd send more than one team, probably three or four, and hope to split the forces of darkness--or at least keep Sauron guessing.

Don't know who'd I'd send, other than those already said (save the HP and SW references). I'd just have to add more to the ranks.

That's right, UNY claims Haldir for her own.
