April 5, 2004 — According to early tracking estimates posted at Box Office Mojo, director Guillermo del Toro's comic book actioner 'Hellboy', starring Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, and John Hurt, smashed his way to the top of the box office with an estimated $23.5 million, beating out The Rock's latest, 'Walking Tall', the Julia Styles romantic comedy 'The Prince and Me', and Disney's latest animated offering, 'Home on the Range'. Positive word of mouth is expected to help del Toro's monster-mash continue it's success into next weekend.
