How excited (or not) I am to see this movie...
I love films. In paticular, I love films that have to do with the end of our world. I've been looking foward to this film ever since I saw an advertisment for it about 6 months prior to it's release in my local theater. It looked great. The idea fascinated me. A solid film, but as it grew closer to release, it started to look dumb. And It kind of lost it's appeal when I heard and saw that no big name actors were involved with the project. I was very disappionted with the film before I even saw it. But I wasn't able to see it opening weekend, however I did start to read the dreaded reviews. And they weren't to good. That really sank low after waiting to see the darn movie for almost half a year. When it was finally time to watch the thing, I went in thinking that it was going to be another dumb flop simply because of some half-assed director that saw it the wrong way.
Movie Review:
My thoughts on this movie...
This film kicked a**. I thought that this movie was going to be a drag, a real waste of time. But little did I know the film was a sucess as far as I'm concerned. Although there are a lot of critics that disagree with me, I still thought it was a sucess. I went in thinking that this would be bad because the plot alone looked to be dumb. And I knew that no big name actors with price tags were in the picture. So what was the film ridimg on? NOTHING. But after seeing it in the theater, I blew me away on how well done it was. The story was more complex that I had percieved. The idea of our Core failing to rotate for reasons unknown was a bit corny on paper, but seeing it on the screen the way the director and the actors did it was great I thought. Most of the actors I had never heard of before, but I thought they did a fantastic job at potraying their characters. My favorite was actor Stanley Tucci who played the Scientist Zemsky. His performance was great and made the film fun to watch. But that's just me. Overall I thought the film went in a positive direction. It was entertaining at the least and offered a good question, What if The Core of our planet had stopped spinning? Would we be able to do anything? I would recommend this film to people that don't film to seriously and that just want to watch something entertaining. I however take films very seriously but somehow I was able to view this motion picture in a positive way.
