But just had to point out:
Yavanna originally wished that the trees have some kind of protection from Aule's Dwarves who were destined to chop many a forest. But Manwe said that as she was part of the making of Arda, then it was already done. And so the Shepherds of the Trees would come to be. The Elves were the ones who woke them up and taught them to use their voices, and so the Ents began governing the forests. The Ent-draft is the drink that the Ents brew from the waters that runs from the Misty Mountains (though presumably any clean water) and feeds them.
