May 5, 2002 — Universal reports that their film About a Boy (the one going up against Star Wars on May 17th) is at the top of the UK box office, with $5.4 million in ticket receipts, easily nabbing the number one spot at the box office and taking a full third of the market share. The film's per screen average for the weekend was $12,101, with 446 playdates. It is the U.K.s third biggest-grossing opening weekend of the year (behind Monsters, Inc. and Oceans Eleven) and UIPs and Universals biggest U.K. opening of the year. |
