May 22, 2002 — Latino Review gives Insomnia a "B." Here's what they said about it:
"Insomnia" is not a riveting or exciting thriller but a very atmospheric one. Director Nolan has incorporated the film with such haunting imagery as microscopic close-ups of blood soaking through cloth fibers, chases through thick fog and the quick flashes of images that occur during Pacino's guilt ridden daylight nightmares. The film has a very slow pace and set up, but the mood is very powerful. Ultimately "Insomnia" is about the power of guilt and how it can destroy the soul. Pacino has a wonderful conversation with an inn keeper played by Maura Tierney where he opens up and "confessions his sins" and it is she who says a line that best describes the film. "It's about doing what you thought was right at the time and learning to live with it." |
