Elizabeth: The Golden Age “When diplomacy fails ...” — matacron [More reviews by this user] Anticipation Level: How excited (or not) I am to see this movie... Chick flick? Not really, especially considering the numerous acts of grotesque violence found throughout. While it's true the film is primarily a historical drama, no one will disagree that the inwardly tortured Elizabeth being forced to face off against medieval Spain's self-righteous King Phillip and his legions makes for a very interesting plot.
