So I'm gathering you don't feel a sub board in the TV Forum is good enough for general sports chatter - right?
If this is the case- explain to me why it needs a separate area- I add the 'areas' -and they include everything you see - the news sections, the image section, features, reviews, tracking, submittals and the board itself. It's not just a matter of a message board, but having all this extra stuff created which would be useless, as the area itself would not be updated w/anything.
I'm not flat out refusing here, I just would like to know why a sub board wouldn't suffice in the TV forum and why all the extra is needed when you only wish to chat.
I need to jet for now, so you have tonight to collaborate and convince me tomorrow.

couldnt we have a tracking to when the day of the superbowl begins? then also one to when the season begins? and also have ppl like review the teams before the season starts? and have all the players who are on the teams listed. and also for like images have weekly photoshots of the week that has just happend, everythin could be updated daily easily since different things happen daily. and for news it could have weekly scores and w,e new is going on around the league

I apologize if anyone has brought this up but I just wanted to get all my points out in a quick, brief post.
I figure if we have numerous 'interest' forums in CD sports should definitely be a part of it. We have a versus forum, an RPG forum, a music forum, even a Disney forum. I guarantee you if a sports forum is created it will get more attention than all of these forums.
I think if Disney gets it own general forum sports should as well... I mean its not like there hasn't been a million great sports movies. Anything from Happy Gilmore to Friday Night Lights could be discussed in one single forum! It really does sound good to me, not to mention with all the activity in the sports world (year round) there is no way it will ever die, I mean look at this forum as an example... do you think it will be as dead as this board? 2 threads? I check out most new movie forums and all the non blockbusters have next to nothing in them... a sports forum cannot do worse than these.
You guys should give it a shot, I think you will be pleasantly suprised at what kind of attention it might bring to CD
The only thing I can see as a potential problem is the agruments generated about sports teams but I don't think it will be any bigger problem than trolls that pop up here and there every so often, not to mention CD has had its share of controversial topics with flaming involved on numerous occassions anyway. Overall I think the pros definitely outweigh the cons. Give it a shot! |

Yeah, people argue way too much on this site over whether an unknown actor LOOKS like they are right for the part based on one crappy picture, or whether the fact that you disliked a movie is actually fact or opinion....can you imagine what would go on with a sports board? I think the only thing more argued about than religion in this world is sports. Now believe me, I'm all for arguing (I'm in NY and have to live among Yankee fans while cheering for what they consider a "second-rate team." All I do is argue with them.) If a sports board is to be created there's no way that can be moderated, honestly. It would get out of hand way too quickly and if that's not going to be allowed then it's just not going to work...just my thoughts. arguing is a competitve nature among humans, yes thats a given, which makes things more interesting, it gives ppl to belive in wat there saying more, and it gives people a chance to express their feelings which i feel is a really good idea, there are some kids in this world that go to school and dont talk to anyone, then come home go online and talk and it gives a shot for thjem to relate and be frinds wiht other people who are rooting for the same team as others. There is no need to stop arguing becuz it is a competitive nature among us all but to limit what people can say in the message bored, just cut out profanity such as curse words and and cut out threats and name calling, its exacly like other boards on this site but just related to sports, publicity would go up and everyone would be happy You are not a champion until you beat a champion-Donovan Mcnabb |

First, it is no secret that this site has boards for topics other than movies. There is a movie forum, a comic book forum, a tv forum, a versus forum and a Disney forum. All of which are great and provide a unique place to discuss things that would be considered off topic on any other forum. Some of these forums have been quite popular ofver the years. I am sure the Disney forum has had more traffic and interest than the Basic Instinct 2 forum.
Secondly, it would provide one easy to find place to discuss sports, which is a popular topic. If you look back over the last year you will see NFL football being discussed on the Invinvible forum (which makes sense. Go EAGLES!), the World Cup. We have discussed Baseball and the Olympics on the X-Men 3 board. And of course there was the obligatory American Football vs. European Futbal (Soccer to the rest of us) thread on the Versus forum. Wouldn't it be better to have all these threads on a single site dedicated to the sports enthusiast?
Finally, this opens up a new market (and new target audiences for your advertisers) as this site would not just be competing with sites like Ain't it Rude.com, but would then also be a viable alternative to people using the ESPN.com message forums. February 3, 1959
