Well, it looks like Bryan Singer may be directing a new "X-Men" movie after all. I found the news here:

http://xmenfilms.net/blog
1/?p=2487

While speaking at the Pusan International Film Festival in South Korea, X-Men-X2 director Bryan Singer stated that he's still interested in returning to the mutant franchise.

"I'm still looking to possibly returning to the 'X-Men' franchise." said Singer. "I've been talking to Fox about it. I love Hugh Jackman. I love the cast."

Singer said he enjoyed making the films because it was a way to show something socially relevant, but in a fun way. "[I like to] trick audiences into thinking they're seeing fireworks, but they're learning about themselves and listening to what I have to say."

Also, the X-Men Films site has a poll on the same page: "Should Bryan Singer make a return to the mutant franchise?" Here are the results so far (I voted yes):

Yes (77%, 132 Votes)
I have no idea! (4%, 7 Votes)
No (19%, 5 Votes)

Can't wait to hear what Emi thinks of this news.

What do you guys think?

A handfull of things to keep in mind with this news....

1. Singer has lost the respect (not publicly of course) of several studio heads for his spending habits and lack of ability to make the jump from story to action. Even his story telling is sub-par from my point of view, but that's solely an opinion.

2. Fox didn't call Singer. Singer called Fox looking for work. He had been lined up for a number of upcoming projects that have since fallen into development hell. His only work is currently through his production company.

3. The franchise is shot. Fox has run it into the ground. Wolverine was not ANYWHERE near what it should have been. The effects were off, characters (Gambit, Cyclops, Deadpool, etc) were completely misused... It's all down hill from here. They want to make First Class a prequel to X-Men and a spinoff of Wolverine. These people are morons!! I bet they haven't even picked up a copy of First Class to even know what it is.

4. Disney has EVERY intention on getting one of two things. Total control of the rights back or input into the production of anything new. If Disney gets either, Singer hasn't got a snowball's chance in hell of returning. Disney ultimately wants to reboot the franchise from scratch with Jerry Bruckheimer producing.

I say no. Singer isn't really comic book superhero material period. The first 2 X-men films weren't that great and exciting and they dragged a little at some parts but I still like them okay. That is why I enjoyed X3 a lot more even majority might hated it. He screwed up Superman Returns. He made it way too like the original movies and was basically a loose sequel to them and it dragged a lot. Sorry I want a director can actually give me plenty of action, excitement, great drama and a damn good story and actually knows or has studied the source material well. Singer can't do that. All of his films are about the same and not all that great either in my opinion.

Oh I partly agree with Nightwing. Sorry Emi I can't really trust anything you say anymore not right after you posted that conspiracy nonsense. You are not really a reliable source like a bunch think. I have seen you posted false information before and you probably never realized or noticed it was false either or they lied to you just to throw you and the rest of us off. However there is some times you have posted some information was true which I give you that much. I probably still can trust somethings that you say but not everything.

Singer just needs to learn scope when dealing with the X-Men. Everything seemed so confined with his 2 films.

I wouldn't mind him return, it would be a nice deal after the last two films have tarnished this series.

Still I'd prefer him to do something else. The Usual Suspects was a great flick, I'd like to see him tackle something like this again than X-Men to be honest.

For all the flack the first X-Men gets, for better or worse it did put Marvel on that mainstream map and brought comic book films back into interest after Batman & Robin killed such enthusiasm. I wish people showed more appreciation to the door it opened for comic movies. And frankly, it's pretty good. It make me wish for more sensible flicks like that and less mindless testosterone crap like Transformers.

All hearsay, we'll know when we know.

It's not like time won't help the case of a reboot, either.

Like, I swear if they ever reboot "X-Men," I will do everything in my power to boycott the film and who ever decided to do that nonsense.

False. The involvement of Fox does make a decent film being made unlikely, although there's still a chance, albeit a small one, that a GOOD X-Men film can be made under Fox's roof.

i have actually enjoyed every x man film and wolverine. with the exception of x3 and i wouldnt mind it if singer returned.

as long as they dont butcher any more characters. and i dont mean from there source material. yeah dont totally change everything about the character. that would be pointless. but dont have everything happen as it did in the comics, even if it did you people still wouldnt be happy.

my movies for 2009

1. Terminator Salvation
2. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
3. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
4. Star Trek
5. Fast and Furious
6. X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Yeah, maybe if done by a director who Fox won't say **** to, like James Cameron, Ridley Scott, Steven Spielberg, Oliver Stone, Chris Nolan etc. Mind you, I'm not say that those guys should be inlvovled, (well, Cameron or Scott I wouldn't really have a problem with) I'm just saying Fox would most likely let them do whatever the hell they wanted.

It's just going to be tough to get it right, no matter what they do. Re-booting a franchise this soon simply won't be successful.

I think X-Men always would have been a better TV series (live action).

The advantage is you can do a long story arc, involve many characters, (so everyone gets their favorite sometime) and if you have one or two bad scripts, you can redeem yourself. You also don't need to have a 'save the world' plot every time.

The other advantage is that you can pick your audience better, and write it and do character development that will appeal to whatever demographic you want. An adult, serious set of scripts and scenarios could be very successful.

But its a little late now.

I wouldn't mind an "X-Men" live action TV series. But it would have to be something close to "X-Men: Evolution," in their teens and stuff. It would be kind of cool.

yeah this is probably the best idea to reboot X-Men, kind of a Mutant X but not so badly written, i only could watch a few episodes before it got too lame for me
