| SINGER BACK?: "I've been talking to Fox about it." |

Well, it looks like Bryan Singer may be directing a new "X-Men" movie after all. I found the news here:
http://xmenfilms.net/blog 1/?p=2487
While speaking at the Pusan International Film Festival in South Korea, X-Men-X2 director Bryan Singer stated that he's still interested in returning to the mutant franchise.
"I'm still looking to possibly returning to the 'X-Men' franchise." said Singer. "I've been talking to Fox about it. I love Hugh Jackman. I love the cast."
Singer said he enjoyed making the films because it was a way to show something socially relevant, but in a fun way. "[I like to] trick audiences into thinking they're seeing fireworks, but they're learning about themselves and listening to what I have to say."
Also, the X-Men Films site has a poll on the same page: "Should Bryan Singer make a return to the mutant franchise?" Here are the results so far (I voted yes):
Yes (77%, 132 Votes)
I have no idea! (4%, 7 Votes)
No (19%, 5 Votes)
Can't wait to hear what Emi thinks of this news.
What do you guys think?

A handfull of things to keep in mind with this news....
1. Singer has lost the respect (not publicly of course) of several studio heads for his spending habits and lack of ability to make the jump from story to action. Even his story telling is sub-par from my point of view, but that's solely an opinion.
2. Fox didn't call Singer. Singer called Fox looking for work. He had been lined up for a number of upcoming projects that have since fallen into development hell. His only work is currently through his production company.
3. The franchise is shot. Fox has run it into the ground. Wolverine was not ANYWHERE near what it should have been. The effects were off, characters (Gambit, Cyclops, Deadpool, etc) were completely misused... It's all down hill from here. They want to make First Class a prequel to X-Men and a spinoff of Wolverine. These people are morons!! I bet they haven't even picked up a copy of First Class to even know what it is.
4. Disney has EVERY intention on getting one of two things. Total control of the rights back or input into the production of anything new. If Disney gets either, Singer hasn't got a snowball's chance in hell of returning. Disney ultimately wants to reboot the franchise from scratch with Jerry Bruckheimer producing. A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves." - Edward R. Murrow

right on the nose my friend
Can't happen if its done by Fox.
False. The involvement of Fox does make a decent film being made unlikely, although there's still a chance, albeit a small one, that a GOOD X-Men film can be made under Fox's roof.
Yeah, maybe if done by a director who Fox won't say **** to, like James Cameron, Ridley Scott, Steven Spielberg, Oliver Stone, Chris Nolan etc. Mind you, I'm not say that those guys should be inlvovled, (well, Cameron or Scott I wouldn't really have a problem with) I'm just saying Fox would most likely let them do whatever the hell they wanted. |
