IESB's has heard word around town is Fantastic Four over at 20th Century Fox is gearing up for a reboot.



With Daredevil already getting the once over and Planet of the Apes also in the running for a new start with a prequel in the works Fantastic Four is joining the reboot gang.

The two films previously released never really caught on with the fans and the studio is reportedly looking to completely retool, recast and recrew the franchise. This means no Tim Story, no Iaon, no Julian (thank the maker, he never sat well with me as Dr. Doom), no Chris, no Chiklis and no Jessica.

The first Fantastic Four in 2005 pulled in over $330 million worldwide and the second film, Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer, opened in 2007 with a total box office take of $290 million. Both made money and were commercial successes but the reviews were lackluster and the fan reaction was mediocre.

The franchise is looking to be "less bubble gum" this time round following the Iron Man template, which was a complete success in reviews and box office take but a bit darker when it came to its superhero. Iron Man was in no way as dark as The Dark Knight but was funny, action-y as well as a bit on the serious side.

Now who do you want as Mr. Fantastic this time out? Which director would be the best choice to bring this story to the screen once again?

I think Fox should just sell the rights back to Marvel, Marvel produces a BOMB-ASS version of F4 with SS and a REAL Galactus, and then let Fox distribute it so they get a slice.

This is FOX we're talking about. They'll just screw it up again. Why even bother? Sell the rights to Marvel so we don't have to have a second reboot when they eventually regain the franchise

Fox will never be successful with superhero or other comic book franchises because they don't know how to keep their mouths shut, take risks and just let the stories be told the way they should. It's amazing how none of the studio heads have seen a constant pattern of failure.

I liked the first 2 Fantastic Four films and they were entertaining but I agree with you entirely. FOX is just being stupid and they think their second attempt of doing Fantastic Four will succeed and will be better but they are dead wrong.

FOX, you all need to stop being so stupid and sell the rights including the other rights that you hold like the X-Men, Wolverine, Daredevil, and Elektra back to Marvel and let them make them and you distribute them for crying out loud. Same thing goes for you Sony that holds the rights of Spider-Man and Ghost Rider. You guys are so oblivious. Can you see that your attempts of doing comic book/superhero films are failures? Look at the Dark Knight. Can you see that WB finally got it right? It even looks like Paramount might finally got Star Trek right too. Look at the latest trailer of the new Star Trek. That is how you make films to succeed and you will definitely make a load of bucks too.

For WB, I don't understand why you can't get your acts together about Superman and get him right like you finally did for Batman and looks like you got Watchmen right too.
