Following up on a report from Bloody-Disgusting, BlackFilm.com has confirmed that Ving Rhames, Mena Suvari, Michael Welch, Annalynne McCord, Stark Sands and Nick Cannon have been cast in Millennium Films' Day of the Dead remake.

Steve Miner (Halloween: H20) will direct the movie, written by Jeffrey Reddick. The original dealt with the zombie assault on a military establishment.

We were informed today that Christa Campbell (The Wicker Man, 2001 Maniacs) will be joining Ving Rhames, Mena Suvari, Michael Welch, Annalynne McCord, Stark Sands and Nick Cannon in Millennium Films' remake of George A . Romero's Day of the Dead, and will also be returning as the stunningly beautiful Milk Maiden in Tim Sullivan's 2002 Maniacs. No word yet on an official start date for 2002, but the Day of the Dead remake begins shooting at the end of this month. Read on to see just how hot Campbell is. The original Day follows a group of scientists and military personnel holed up in an underground bunker because the world above is overrun with zombies. The lumbering flesheaters eventually find a way in and wreak havoc on the scientists who've been experimenting on their undead brethren...

Variety officially confirms our scoop that Ving Rhames and Mena Suvari will star in Millenium Films' remake of George A. Romero's Day of the Dead. They also confirm Black Films' scoop that Nick (Monster House) Cannon will also be starring. Michael Welch, Annalynne McCord, Stark Sands and hottie Christa Campbell round out the cast for the film, which follows a group of scientists and military personnel holed up in an underground bunker because the world above is overrun with zombies. The lumbering flesheaters eventually find a way in and wreak havoc on the scientists who've been experimenting on their undead brethren. Steve Miner (Halloween H2O) is directing the zombie pic from a screenplay by Jeffrey Reddick, who penned the "Final Destination" franchise.
