| Spider-Man 4 to start filming March 2010 |

Back in March, a little less than two years after "Spider-Man 3" opened with what was then the biggest first weekend ever, Sony and Marvel Studios announced an official release date for its fourth Spidey flick: May 6, 2011. Still up in the air was the date when production would actually begin.
In an exclusive conversation with MTV News on Friday, franchise director Sam Raimi reveled that if all goes according to plan, shooting will begin early next year.
"We're hoping that it's the first week in March," said Raimi.
At the moment, pre-production is in full swing, even as screenwriter Gary Ross ("great director and a very fine writer," said Raimi) continues to work on the script.
"He's working on a draft," he continued. "I just gave him some notes and he's doing a rewrite right now."
On other fronts, "Spider-Man 4" continues to chug along. "The production is starting to come together," Raimi told us. "I've got a production designer who is starting to design the sets and the environments that the picture will take place in. We just brought aboard Scott Stokdyk as one of the two visual effects supervisors, and I worked with him on all three 'Spider-man' pictures."
With Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst set to reprise their roles, Raimi and his team will soon turn their attention to filling out the rest of the cast. "None of the casting has really taken place, but we're starting to think about that now," the director said.
Our chat with Raimi was a wide-ranging one, filled with talk about where he wants to take the Peter Parker character, which villain(s) might be showing up on the big screen, and much, much more. Check back in the coming days for more exclusive Spidey news.

| Much like the plan right after SM3, look for hints towards Venom in SM4. And no, Eddie Brock (or at least Topher Grace as Eddie Brock) will not be returning. Ross was hired for Venom for one reason and one reason only. They want the same person involved with both films so the crossover is successful. The Venom spinoff will be a complete reboot of the character. Much bigger and more badasss. Possibly all CGI in Venom form. Also, look for Ross to direct SM5 and not Raimi. I'm hearing Venom will be a one shot deal making it, SM4, and SM5 basically a trilogy with Carnage being the big payoff in the end. A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves." - Edward R. Awesome, so big Eddie Brock in Venom, and him in Spider-Man 5 with him and Carnage in Spider-Man 6, right? 5 and 6 will be shot back to back right? Also, I guess this means that the Lizard and Kraven are the villains in Spider-Man 4 I suppose.

I'm not making anything up. I'm just assuming it's the Lizard and Kraven in Spider-Man 4 since Infamous_Emijayne was hearing they would be the villains months ago. But everything Infamous_Emijayne is saying is true because she has a great track record.
Most of what she said came from other sites reporting it first & she taken the credit as her own without even posting the link. Like IESB or Variety, for example. I even look at Variety article on what she said about the writer of Venom likely to direct Spider-Man 5 & it was listed first before she post it.

I never claimed to be the first to announce Ross writing or directing Venom. I made calls after hearing about it online. What I found out was that they want to connect SM4 to Venom and connect Venom to SM5. Raimi will not return for SM5. He's not happy his control has been taken away again, but he'll never say anything publicly. Therefore, Ross is being given Venom and will subsequently be handed SM5 as well to keep the consistency.
Did that explain things better for you??
Even Iceman (who did work on SM3 has heard most of what I have) AND you're gonna say IESB has a better track record than me?? They may cover more movies, but who told them about who was cast in JLA?? ME... Who told them who the third villain was?? ME... Not to mention me being right about no more Singer & Routh with Superman getting a reboot. How many years did I make that claim?? You know what, you're not even worth explaining myself to...Go back to playing in your mom's basement.. A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves." - Edward R. Murrow

dont feel bad its so hard these days to get info I didnt even hear any of this on my end lol... all i heard in the office was something about venom being a good guy and the lethal protectors storyline. I couldnt find the story on the net then rocco posted that the news came from variety then a day later its everywhere. As far as the whole venom and carnage deal I just heard that they were the villians being used for a back to back filming in vaderbuilts script which got shafted.
Right but they're revisiting the profit potential of having them in SM5. What I don't the fans will fall for is the connection they want to make between the new films. Venom is set to be a complete reboot as if he was never seen in SM3. The problem with that is in order to reboot him properly, it must be the Secret Wars storyline. That's never going to happen unless they reboot Spider-Man as well. I understand Sony / Columbia wanting to make things up to the fans but sometimes it's not worth it in the end. Sometimes, things can get worse. I'm going to reserve final opinion until after seeing what they do in SM4 to tease Venom, but don't count on the spinoff making $400mil worldwide even... A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves." - Edward R. Murrow
