"Happy Feet" Dances On Top of Box Office Again

SUBMITTED BY Scooby

December 3, 2006 — "Happy Feet" was the number one film for the third straight weekend, earning an estimated $17.05 million for a total of $121.00 million in three weeks. "Casino Royale" was number 2 for the third straight weekend with $15.10 million for a total of $115.86 million. The film has made $300 million worldwide, and should surpass "Die Another Day", the top-grossing Bond film, which earned $432 million. "Deja Vu" remained at number three with $11.03 million for a total of $44.03 million.

"The Nativity Story", which opened this weekend, made a modest $8.00 million, coming in at number four. The studio attributed the box office returns to snow in the Midwest, which they felt the core audience would be. Two new films"Turistas" and "National Lampoon's Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj" opened poorly for the weekend, earning an estimated $3.54 million and $2.29 million respectively.
