DOA is a fighting game frachise that as been around since 1997. It doesn't really compete with Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat, but the game is really special!
Just like the rest of the fighting games, comes a movie which are dissappointing. 2006 a DOA movie has been made, the trailer looks dissappointing, but will the storyline be good?
3weeks after the release of the movie, I couldn't wait to watch the movie with my sister (she's also a fan of DOA). I went to watch the movie alone.
STORY The storyline follows up just like the game, the director actually got the storyline from DOA1 & 2. Just like the game, the main character is Kasumi, she finds out that her brother is missing, no one isn't telling her anything about him missing. She tries to flie of the village, but was stopped by the ninjas. Ofcourse the ninjas cannot harm her, she does her slick moves and combo on them. Ayane shows up, tell her if she leaves, she will find her and kill her. The story didn't explain anything about the Grudge against Ayane & Kasumi. Kasumi jumps off the wall of the village, she ripps of her cloth (the white costume with red strip) which shows her wearing a parachute. While landing, a star kunai dashes towards her, she catches it. The kunai message reading, kasumi, invited to DOA Tournament.
The same applies to the rest of the DOA Girls. The characters are Kasumi, Tina, Christie & Helena. Each character have their own reason for joining DOA. Tina enters DOA to prove to the world her wrestling moves an't fake. Christie joins the tournament to steal a hidden treasure in the island. Helena is the daughter of the man helding the tournament Fame Douglas.
FX There isn't that much graphics or cg in the movie, accept for the end. However the sound effects for the combo move is "what da f..." There was one point in the movie, Zack did some move on Tina, the sound effect sounded like a Shotgun be reloaded:/
Moves There are some notable moves in the movie. They didn't show all the good ones like Hayabusa's izuna drop or Zack combo rush.
COSTUME The costume for some of the characters are good. Kasumi costume is just like the game, Leon's costume just like the game, Hayate costume just like the game, Zack ect. But the hairstyle for Zack is over the top, too pointly! Ayane's hairstyle/wig is just to fake, doesn't look like her own her.
Looks actress playing Kasumi is alright, however actress playing Ayane is just ridiculous! Actor playing Bass and also actor playing Zack, they fit and look just like the game character. Leon in the game didnt look Itailain, actor playing Leon didn't even look Itialian or in the game. Actor playing Hayate is the WORST! Actress playing Helena, she isn't bad, but she doesn't look like the Helena from the game. Actress playing Chrisite is really hot!, she doesn't look like the game character, but she fits well. Actress playing Tina is terrible! She is skinny with muscles:/ Plus her voice is bad for the character and her looks
GOOD
*Some actor/actress look good for the movie
*Good storyline: DOA tournament is held on an island
*Some plot for the characters just like in the game: Zack fighting Tina, Tina fighting Bass
BAD
*Rubbish props: Ayane's wig, Zack's hairstyle, Leon's haircolour
*Stupid sound effects
*dumb storyline: about 4 girls when the game features all about the characters!
*Bayman can't speak:/ Plus he looks retarted!
*Hayabusa the one they called Super Ninja, is captured:/ Hayabusa is a servant to Kasumi:/
*No story why Ayane hates Kasumi, because she tries to kill her in the tournament I mean KILL HER!
*Christie as a boyfriend!? since when? since when did christie wants to steal gold? I though she was working for Donovan?
*Helena didn't loose her mother. Infact she is been watched by some gEEk who fancies her
*THE WORST PART OF THE MOVIE IS:
They actually included Miyako's voice in the movie, you know that woman that shouts "Get Ready...Fight!" It was like watching a game fighting like a movie
THIS MOVIE IS JUST BAD IN EVERYWAY!
I can't say anymore this movie just sucks! Don't bother watching it at the movies/cinema. Don't bother buying it on dvd. Just watch it for FREE. Even though you are a die hard DOA fan. Do not pay to watch this movie. I recommed Street Fighter movie instead or Mortal Kombat Movie!
I love the game istead, to me DOA is better than Street Fighter & Mortal Kombat. I love DOA3 on Xbox isntead of DOA:Ultimate.
