Underworld 3 is the third movie in the Underworld film series. Before the release of the 2003 original, director Len Wiseman announced that a sequel was in the works. After the first film was a success, Wiseman also announced plans for a prequel third movie. Although Screen Gems has yet to confirm a third installment, it seems likely after the success of the second film and comments made in recent interviews with Wiseman, screenwriter Danny McBride, and Kate Beckinsale. In an interview in June 2006 Wiseman has stated that the film will most likely be released in 2008 [1]. "The third film is going to be a prequel. It will be the origin story and we find out things we didnt know about Lucian; hell have a much bigger part in it. It will be about the creation [of the races] and what started the war. It will be a period piece. In terms of the writing, a lot of the writing has been done. Weve been developing Underworld 3 for a while. I wont be directing Underworld 3; Im just going to be producing and writing." Kate Beckinsale also revealed that she might return for the third movie, despite earlier reports that she would have no role..."It will be in the time period before, but it will overlap into the creation of her as well. Were in the process of seeing how far we go with that." As a prequel, Underworld 3 would probably not have Scott Speedman reprising his role as Michael Corvin. ~~~~Now doesn't this just suck azz!!!! There are a lot of questions to as where Selene and Michael go from there, what has happened to all the other vampires and lycans, and as I recall (its been a while) we never really saw William die. Prequels tend to be disasters, i'm not sure how I feel about this when they are much better off taking a safer route. Evolution was excellent, why not expand on the positive reaction? I'm a big fan of Bill Nighy and would love to see more of Viktor. I also love things set in the past, and the flashbacks were some of my favorite scenes from the first two films. I would love to see them go back to the origins of vampires and lycans, and the events surrounding Selene's creation (after all, in the second film we see Viktor take her in, but we don't see her actual creation and training) and the early war between vampires and lycans, including the battle in which Lucien was supposedly destroyed. I also agree that they can bring back Scott Speedman as one of his own ancestors. With make-up they can easily make him look different enough to be a different character, but still similar enough to produce the family resemblance. I have a picture of an ancestor of mine from the very late 1800's, and the resemblance to me is absolutely uncanny. Some traits really can survive for generations, so casting Scott Speedman as his ancestor is totally do-able. Again I might be mistaken on what I read. Also everyone has been complainning about how it might be a prequel and not a sequel but you should think about it after watching Underworld and Underworld evolution would you not be confused with how it all started, I mean I know we know all the important things and I am sure this has been said before but maybe all we need to know to make the Icing on the cake is how Alexandre starts out, seriously all we know is that he had 3 kids, one bitten by bat one by wolf and one mortal and we also know he is the creation of some virus but thats it so do you not think a prequel would be good because if I remember right there was supposed to be a great war in the past which means more action which is something that I would really love to see seeing as the other too did not have too much action in it since it was all just Selene meeting Michael then Selene running away with Michael.
