This won't work. They're going to have to update it and that's going to kill it. The original worked because it was the first time we'd seen something like that.
Unless they set this sometime back in the 70's or 80's, how are they going to play off the who telephone/cellphone thing. And the police tracing the call - ya, we have PC's now - they're not going to need a guy going though miles and miles of wiring.
The way the co-ed's behaved - the attitudes about women and such - that won't fly today. So they'll change it and that will take away from the film.
And let's not forget how PC everything has to be today. The whole abortion thing and what the killer says about it on the phone... they're going to have to tone that down now. Just the climate of North America. The original gets away with it because it's a classic.
What they SHOULD do it re-release the original in the theatres. Clean up the film from aging problems and show it again.
