After the moderate success of Fox Atomic's 28 WEEKS LATER, Dany Boyle had gone on record stating that there could be two more entries in the series, 28 MONTHS LATER and 28 YEARS LATER. Since then, Fox Atomic has collapsed back into 20th Century Fox and the franchise has been silenced. Danny Boyle's latest project, the astounding SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE, has been playing this past week's Toronto International Film Festival, where he has resurrected talk about the next film. Theres a bit of discussion going on about it at the moment, Boyle tells MTV of what Im going to start calling 28 Months Later, the third in a series which began with 28 Days Later in 2002 and continued with 28 Weeks Later last year.
I have an idea for it [but] Ive got to present it and see what people think really because it might be silly really, he laughed.
On the matter of whether or not he would direct the film, though, the Slumdog Millionaire helmer was much less coy, admitting that it was a possibility.
