Not that I'm saying you shouldnt have liked Spider-Man 3, but did we see the same film?? I'm an action fanatic. I hate movies that lack action. It's the main reason I liked X3 over Singer's two films. But Spider-Man having better action than Pirates?? I think you must have hit the snack bar or bathroom too many times and missed some stuff.
Yeah, I know what you are saying.
I guess the main thing is that Spider-man 3 kept its action fresh. All of Pirates's action seemed repetitive because it was always a sword or gun fight on a ship. Spider-man had more variety, or at least I think, with Venom Sandman and New Goblin, and the fact that they all (except Venom) had multiple fights in different surroundings and using different tactics.
Example: Harry on the sky stick above the city, in his home, and then joining Spider-man.
But I can see what you're saying and why you might think Pirates was more action packed. It definitely was more packed than the previous 2 Pirate movies.
And I also liked the symbiote storyline over the Pirates plot. Pirates just had too many confusing parts with unanswered questions. Not to mention
Tia Dalma leaving after becoming Calypso was a let down. It was the focus of the film, getting the courts to meet for that, and then BOOM!!! she crawls away and makes a storm which, to me, added no dramatic effect.
But I definitely respect yours and anyone else's opinion.

See, I just expected so much better from Pirates. And I knew Spidey 3 wouldn't be as good as it could have been before hand.
There were a few things I just didn't like about Pirates 3.
Brethren Court, I did not like the idea that Pirates were so organised and had a society and "Pirate lords"
I liked the "Pirate Code" from the first film, but when you see it in the third it loses its mystery.
Goddess Calypso? That was just bad. I mean WTF?
Multiple Jacks, funny but not needed.
Jack's mother, just bad.
Norrington was fantastic, I found the wedding part funny, the squeaky voice pirate was hysterical and the sword fight between Jack and Davy Jones was brilliant. And whenever Jack spoke.
Overall, I rolled my eyes and was bored a LOT more in Pirates than Spidey. But of course that could be because I'm a die-hard Spider-Man fan, however I'm still critical of Spider-Man 3. The Doctor: Even the monsters under your bed have nightmares...
Reinette: What do monsters have nightmares about?
The Doctor: Me!
100% Welsh Spider-Man and Dr Who fan.

I felt the fact that they were organized was clever. After all, most crime is organized to a degree. And considering that all people affiliated with piracy were being killed. Its only natural that we are left with the creme de la creme.
As far as the pirate code, it was barely mentioned in the first. I was glad that they elaborated on the mythos.
I agree, that Calypso could have been elaborated upon. But what they did with the character was satisfying. They developed her, and she had her conclusion. As nimble as it was, it was done right.
Multiple Jacks, well that was just a little of that fun you are asking for in the first place isnt it?
And the moms head? Cmon! That was great! Everyone laughed!

Nah, I liked the whole Pirates out for themselves and themselves alone aspect.

No, didn't like it.

Nah, I liked it when the mentioned Gods and Goddesses, but not when you see them. It just spoils it for me.

No, I like it when Jack is interacting with other characters, because then you've got the classic sketch comedy scenario of Strange meets Normality. Multiple Jacks doesn't work because then there's no normality for Jack to bounce off, although having said that "Nobody move! I've dropped me brain!" Was hysterical.

I think this is just me, coz everyone else who I've talked to loves that but I found it very sickening.
I don't know why, I love horror and scary movies but that is just too weird for me. The Doctor: Even the monsters under your bed have nightmares...

Yes thats fine and all. But considering the scope of what was going on. What else do you expect. Sure their pirates, but their not stupid. Hmmm, let me see, risk eradication by fighting alone? Or stand a chance by joining forces? I think im a choose the latter!

You didnt even see her! You saw her human shell. Which eventually grew into a giant. Then dissasembled into crabs. What you did see, is what she could do. Hence the storm and the whirlpool. Its no different than seeing the curse of the pirates in the first movie. That was laid upon from the gods also.

He's hallucinating. What can you expect. A scene like this is not meant to read into like you're doing. Its just to have "fun" with it.

See pirates can be organized but you never know because they keep it a secret, and the pirates lords thing made the storyline follow through better.
Godess calypso was not something they made up, remember they had to follow the legend of davy jones, and intertwine it in Jack, Will, and Elizabeth's journey. Multiple Jack's..im a huge pirates fan and i will pretty much agree with everything they do but the multiple jacks was funny .
Jack's mom- well if you see his dad wont your be wondering where his mom is, and instead of making a huge deal about his mom they just lifted her little skull up and that was the end of it.
the one and ONLY thing i did not like but made some sense was how will was the new captain..it should have been barbossa so that will and elizabeth could be together, and it made sense because Will was playing Davy Jones part and Elizabeth was going to play Calypso, except they did the right thing this time. but it should have been Barbossa |

I agree, it didn't make a lot of sense if all of the sudden the pirates couldn't attack a ship unless the pirate king (what? ) told them to.

No, didn't like it.
Same here too. I didn't like that there was this giant book where the pirate code was written. In the first movie (don't remember if it was in the second or not) it was more of an unwritten code. Made it more mysterious and pirate-y.

I just thought it was dumb that the whole point of the movie was to get the pirates together to release Calypso, yet they in the end just had her crawl away. That is a cop out, if you ask me. They just wanted an excuse to get the pirates together. Once they had Calypso out of the way, they just got rid of her (and no, the storm was not enough for me)

No, I thought the multiple Jacks were kinda cool, but the brain part was kinda dumb. I don't know, but I didn't really like it that much.

Nope, that was fine by me.
But I also didn't like how when the ship was getting blown apart that the british guy just walked through, even though pieces of junk were bouncing off his face at pretty high speeds. Just was dumb to me.

Dont you see that the book has been around for ages? They could all have come to some agreement. But Jack was desperate so he started thinking of anything in the book that might work to his favor.

Since when has it been an unwritten code? Its never been regarded as that. In the first movie, Liz tries to evoke the right of Parlay, in which Barbossa tells her that its merely a set of guidelines and not rules. Of course hes doing whats in his favor.
Hence my first statement. The book has never been regarded too, and the pirates use the codes loosely. But for the sake of politics in the scene, and to come to a concise agreement. They pulled it out so that everyone could shut up.

You are seriously mistaken if you think that the whole point of the movie was to release Calypso! The pirates getting together was a given. It had to happen to try and survive the battle. Her sole purpose was to add a deeper story to Davy Jones. Thats why it seems like a cop out to you. You were expecting too much out of her because she's a goddess.

Let me guess, you were grossed out? Give me a break, the scene was just a nodd to the similar scene in Dead Mans Chest. Just with Jack this time around.

And I bet you enjoyed the scene in SM3 where spidey saves Gwen Stacey from falling to her death. A scene that was poorly done, looked amazingly fake, and was completely unecessary.
The scene with Lord Beckett is for dramatical effect. To show this great man dying with whatever little honor he had left. And you know what? Like everything else in this movie, it was done right!
