Latino Review reports that an offer is out to Jake Gyllenhaal to play Dastan in Disneys upcoming mega-franchise "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time".

The talk comes after yesterdays news from the site that Orlando Bloom is NOT going to be playing the role - rumors of Blooms involvement spread like wildfire over the Net earlier this week. The story follows an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world

Theres a complication though - Gyllenhaal hurt his ankle playing basketball recently, leading to him walking around on crutches lately. The role requires intense physicality, including a significant amount of parkour (free running) seen in the likes of "Casino Royale" and "District B13". Will Gyllenhaal have the time to recuperate and ready himself?

The other question is of course his appearance and background. The character started off in the games as a adventurer from a foreign land, but in the Sands of Time series he was born in the kingdom. Gyllenhaals larger muscular build, hairy chest, and Anglo-heritage doesnt seem to physically fit with that of a swimmers build-esque lithe, bare chested man of Middle-Eastern descent - a body type the aforementioned Bloom is closer too.

Please, no.

As much of the country is left stranded for Christmas due to a storm, I wonder what are their thoughts on the credibility of Global Warming? HAHA...

Been saying this for YEARS

Too bad bloom turned it down, he would have been a perfect choice.
