February 24, 2004 — Hollywood's remake-mania continues with none other than "The Poseidon Adventure". Just when you thought the age of Irwin Allen was over...

Wolfgang Petersen and Mike Fleiss are setting sail on a remake of 1972 disaster film "The Poseidon Adventure" with Warner Bros. Petersen and Fleiss are producing the shipwreck saga with Diana Rathbun.

The producer pairing is unexpected: While Petersen has directed "The Perfect Storm" and "Das Boot," Fleiss has made his biggest splash in reality TV. Fleiss currently has "The Bachelor" franchise at ABC, "High School Reunion" and "BMOC" on the WB and "The Will" at CBS.

"With the incredible advances in effects technology, even since (2000's) 'The Perfect Storm,' the time is right for a remake of 'The Poseidon Adventure,' " Petersen said. "We can make this a very scary movie. And a lot of fun."
