Young actor Jimmy Bennett has snagged a plum lead role in Wolfgang Peterson's uber-budgeted "Poseidon Adventure" retool.
Bennett, probably best known for his memorable role as Tommy Smith in the recent hit "Hostage", has been cast as tug-traveller Conor in the film.
The young actor recently played Harrison Ford's son in the forthcoming "Firewall".
In negotiations to join the cast of the watery redo is singer, Fergie, of 'The Black Eyed Peas' fame. Not surprisingly, she'll play the on-board entertainment.
Like the 1972 original, the story follows the survivors of the S.S. Poseidon, a cruise ship that is capsized by a tidal wave. The survivors, trapped inside, are forced to work their way to the surface of the upside-down ship through the hull.
Josh Lucas, Kurt Russell, Richard Dreyfuss, Emmy Rossum and Mike Vogel co-star aboard the waterlogged ship.
